Best of Both Worlds

I love that I have a job where I get to look at this cute face three of the five workdays (taken today during a mommy-daughter break, which sometimes consists of me playing dress-up). I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can continue to have the best of both worlds. It's a lot of hard work to be a fulltime mom and a fulltime student but it is SO worth it!

My Favorite Picture of Kennedy so far

My favorite picture of Kennedy so far:

This so accurately captures the happy little soul she is. I also like it because it is actually Great-grandpa Hirschi (off camera) who is making her squeal with delight. I don't know what it is but everytime she seems him she just smiles and smiles! Finally, I love this picture because it is with Grandpa Miller, one of the most selfless, loving people I know. He is a quiet man but he is a good man and he LOVES his grand kids!

Kennedy's First Camping Trip

After festivities on the Fourth, Justin, Kennedy and I set out camping! It has been a very important goal of mine to introduce Kennedy to the natural world at a young age. I want her earliest memories to be of camping, hiking and playing in the outdoors. So the three of us set out to Flaming Gorge on Saturday night. We stayed in the Miller family's pop-up trailer in a primitive camp site about 15 miles below the dam, on the Utah side. We had a beautiful view of the Green River!

The pop-up trailer, while some may argue is not true camping, was wonderful to have. It provide shade from the hot sun and shelter during a few microbursts on Sunday. In addition, it was a clean place to change and wash Kennedy. We will certainly start using a tent soon but this was a great first exposure.Lady and her Dad.

While Justin and some friends floated a portion of the Green on Sunday, Kennedy, Jen, Calvin and I all stayed at camp and just relaxed. It was nice having friends there who brought a lot of the camping gear so we did not have to worry about it.

Mom, Kennedy and the pop-up trailer!
The only incident that was not succesful was the drive home. Kennedy is not much of a car-sleeper so being in the car for nearly 5 hours with only tiny naps to sustain her made our cheerful little girl angry! It was a bit of a fight to get her to sleep when we got home but once she was down we could celebrate a first successful camping trip!

Fourth of July

The Fourth is always a fun time with the Miller family. They have several traditions including a big breakfast, a neighborhood and community parade and rocket contest that I always look forward to. With this being Kennedy's first real holiday it was even more wonderful! I often forget to get pictures of the three of us while we are out so I made a point this Fourth. In part, to justify buying Kennedy a dress just for a single day :). Here are some of the pictures from the day. If anyone can show me how to post video I would love to show a few cute videos as well.Grandma Miller, Great Grandma Hirschi, Kennedy and Justin. A four generation picture!

Me and my new favorite person. Isn't she beautiful? (You don't need to answer that, I have already made up my mind!)
