The Things I am Learning!

So each week I receive baby growth and development updates from babycenter.com. I really look forward to reading these so I can have some grasp on all the changes they are going through. But this week...well...I wish I hadn't read! There I am reading along about facial movements, neural proliferation and thumb sucking when I came across this line:

"His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him -- a process he'll keep up until birth."

Um, excuse me, what? Since when is it okay to pee where you sleep? And worse yet, since when has it been "okay'ed" to pee in somebody while they are giving you free rent, 8-10 square meals a day, and they even exercise for you?! How rude!

I know, I know, some of you "mothers" will tell me this is all part of the development of my precious baby and I should be thankful that he/she has proper kidney function...BUT...Did I mention the kid was peeing in me?

How We Found Out

Well, some of you have known for a while but, the news is now out to everyone, we are pregnant! Now that it is official I decided to post a few pictures we have been holding on to.
Yep, that's me holding a piece of plastic I peed on,...you're welcome.
How I found out:
I was sitting in a meeting with two of my advisers and we were discussing a time line for a project. Suddenly, I looked at the calendar and realized I had miscalculated when I should start my "moon cycle" and that I should have started two days earlier. I don't remember another thing said in that meeting,...I think I nodded and said "Sounds good!" a lot.

I ran from the meeting down to Smith's and got the box of tests. On the way home (one of the longest drives of my life) I seriously contemplated how to start the test,...but that would have been messy! Anyway, when I got home I did my lady business on the lady stick and waited the longest 3 minutes of my life. At the end of them, when I saw the results, I couldn't believe it! I started pacing, coming back to the pee-stick over and over again, looking to see if matters had changed. Then, my next thought was, if the little guy is in there now, how the heck am I going to get it out?! I still haven't figured that one out....
How Justin found out:
He hates this story now, almost as much as I hate our engagement story! So, we had been trying for a couple months with no success and based on some symptoms from a couple days earlier (implantation, ladies, if you know what I am talking about) I thought we missed out this month too. So I simply sent Justin an instant message saying "I think I might have started". He, being the sweet husband he is wrote back "I am on my way home", knowing I would not have taken this news well. He, he, he. So he came in and gave me a hug and told me he was sorry. I was going to wait until later but I just came out with it and said "Well, I told you I started but I didn't say what. (I went and grabbed out the pee-stick) I think I started cooking a baby!" Justin, Mr. No-Sense-of-Humor, got mad for a second that I didn't tell him right away and then he gave this look of "Holy Crap! Now what do we do?" (see attractive picture below)Anyway, that's the story of how we found out! The baby's non-gendered name is Little Tuna half from The Office and half from some friends who call their little girl that and it just stuck for our little guy somehow.
